Crimea: riddles of the Valley of ghosts
According to legend, on the top of mount Demerdzhi there was a fortress where a cruel blacksmith lived.
He took men from the nearest village and forced them to work hard in a blacksmith's shop. A brave girl named Maria decided to climb to the top to ask the blacksmith to let her fiance go. But she also died at the hands of a treacherous villain. Then the mountain itself became angry and began to burst into flames, burying both the blacksmith and his unfortunate victims in the rubble.

They say that the silhouette of Mary remained forever among the other rocks. You can still see it, especially if you look at Demerdzhi from afar. Time and wind had done a good job of shaping the rocks and rocks. As soon as they are not named and who only do not resemble-fantastic monsters, fabulous birds and animals, magic castles and towers, and of course, on the very top of the famous profile of Catherine the second.

In the valley itself, there are a great many giant stone pillars. One of them, on the South-Western slope, is named the Giant and reaches a height of 25 meters. Around it there are the statues with the height smaller, so-called "devil's fingers". The last significant landslides occurred here in 1965 and 1966. a Large area lying along the steep slope of Demerdzhi, was littered with random piles of pointed conglomerates of boulders; some of them are the size of a three-story house. There are also scattered pebbles of rare red granite, which is found only in the Valley of ghosts. For geological history, this is a mystery, and for psychics-a source of cosmic energy, who knows.

But the height of courage is to stay the night in the Valley. They say that in the evening, when dusk falls, the rocks begin to cast strange shadows, move, land flying saucers and go out to meet the snowman. Skeptics, however, claim that all mysterious phenomena are explained by special plants that emit various volatile substances in the morning that can cause people to hallucinate. Whether this is true, or Demerdzhi still has a special account in the other world, it is better to see for yourself.

In addition to the rocks, in the Valley of ghosts you can admire the ruins of the ancient fortress of Funa. Funa fortress is one of the easternmost outposts of the ancient Principality of Feodoro. This is a small fortification, which is still being studied.

On Demerdzhi there are many rare plants, including yew, sainfoin Alinsky, pyracantha and others.

In addition, the Valley of ghosts is also famous for the fact that many scenes from the wonderful film "the Caucasian captive"were filmed there. In particular, the "Nikulin Nut" grows here, the same nut from which the actor fell. By the way, a strange incident is also connected with this scene. Specifically for filming on the nut sawed a branch, but when Nikulin climbed on the nut-the branch broke in another place and the actor broke his arm in the fall.

And even the huge stone on which Natalia Varley danced and sang the song "about bears" is also located on Demerdzhi. Everyone can take a photo on it. However, its height is as much as two meters and therefore a ladder is carefully placed against the stone.

By the way, it is best to go up to the Valley of ghosts on horseback. There are several equestrian clubs near Demerdzhi that organize trips to the Valley of ghosts. The famous valley of Ghosts is located near Alushta, at the foot of the southern Demerdzhi mountain near the village of Luchistoe – it is simply not possible to miss it, even if you want to.
